Last winter, snowboarders Travis Parker, Louie Fountain and Scotty Wittlake built a custom pedal car and drove it, or rode it i guess, to a bunch of ski areas.  I gotta hand it to these guys, it’s a great idea albeit a little cold.

For some reason more and more snowboarders are adopting cycling as an off season pursuit, especially cyclocross.  I think part of this can be attributed to the fixed gear phenomenon.  Personally I harbor no disdain for what many see as a fad.  Anything that gets more people on a bike is great in my book.  Hopefully this cross over will bleed onto the road and velodrome.  I think the new ‘blood’ will grow the sport and help give it some of the fun we find in cross racing.
